I’m a sucker for cucumber in anything from a salad to a glass. This recipe is a winning combination of sweet basil, the fatty, herbal notes of cucumber, and the award-winning bouquet of Far North Spirits Solveig Gin. Talk about fresh!

GLASSWARE: LOWBALL

RECIPE:

  • 2 oz Far North Spirits Solveig Gin

  • 3 Slices Cucumber

  • 1 Basil Leaf, Torn

  • ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice

  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup *

  • 1 Dash Aromatic Bitters (Such as Angostura)

  • Pinch of Salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

Heavily muddle cucumber, torn basil leaf, and bitters in a shaker tin. Add remaining ingredients, plus ice. Shake hard; strain into a Lowball glass filled with fresh ice. If desired, garnish by floating a thin cucumber slice and additional basil leaf.

SIMPLE SYRUP:

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 cup water

Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat, then cool. Use right away or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
