Sound Advice

“As the days and nights get a little chilly and the foliage changes, we thought it would be fun to combine some traditional Autumn flavors with some elements of traditional tiki cocktails. The combination of cinnamon and grapefruit is the base for tiki legend's Don the Beachcomber's "Mix No. 4." The recipe was a closely guarded secret for decades. Far North Spirits Ålander Spiced Rum is the perfect base for these both tropical and Fall flavors.”

DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
TIME: 5 MIN + 10 MIN FOR SYRUP
GLASSWARE: TIKI MUG or COLLINS GLASS

Recipe:

INSTRUCTIONS:

Combine ingredients and shake. Strain over fresh ice (crushed ice is ideal) . Garnish with fresh sage and grated cinnamon.


Cinnamon-Sage Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • 5 sage leaves

Heat all ingredients over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat, then cool and strain. Use right away or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
